Donate Your Tech

If you’ve got devices to donate, that’s great! We accept all makes and models of mobile phones and tablets, regardless of their age or condition; and laptops that are less than 10 years old.

Once we receive your device, it enters our triage process where our volunteers assess it’s functionality and work out what spare parts we may need to purchase. Our chief wizard (mobile device repair technician) will then repair the device and we can now undertake a secure erase process using Blancco software, the global leader in end of life solutions for technology. If required, we can provide a Certificate of Erasure for your device.

In the instance that the device cannot be repaired or refurbished, we’ll set it aside to use for spare parts. Any broken parts or devices that can’t be revived are sent to Mobile Muster for secure recycling, where phones are shredded and the valuable metals are extracted for recycling. Our aim is to avoid landfill at every step of our process.

For bulk donations, we can arrange to collect directly from you in the Sydney metro area.

Financial Donations

Your donation is where the (re)connection begins! As a registered charity, The Reconnect Project counts on your generous support to revive devices. Contributions over $2 are tax-deductible, and with an average cost of $200 to restore each device, every dollar truly makes a difference. Donate today and help us empower our community!
Preparing your tech for donation

Before donating your device, it’s best if you can remove your personal information by performing a factory reset. This will remove all iCloud or Google account information.  We have a downloadable PDF with detailed instructions on how to clear your phone of personal information before you donate.
